Extending Bucket Seats

Jason Klenner's Sprung Chair Flexes From a 2D Form into a 3D One

When sat on, the Sprung Chair looks like a typical bucket seat; when empty, however, it's a different story all together. As its name suggests, the Sprung Chair springs back to its original disc-like existence when not in use.

The Sprung Chair was created by New Zealand-based designer Jason Klenner. By challenging traditional seating, Klenner has crafted a unique piece of furniture that interacts with the sitter in a simple, but unexpected way. Like a trampoline, which happens to have a black and yellow bullseye aesthetic, the Sprung Chair is made out of flexible materials that respond to a person's added weight.

Made out of a two-dimensional plastic sheet, the limited edition Sprung Chair flexes into a three dimensional springy form through the use of 65 metres of hand-stitched elastic shock cord.
