Health-Conscious Halloween Candy

The 'Spookies' Treats are Vegan, Nut-Free, and Kosher

In an effort to combat the typically unhealthy Halloween candy that's usually given out during the holiday, the owner of Toronto's New Moon Kitchen, Eden Hertzog, created 'Spookies.'

Vegan, nut-free, and kosher, the treats can be consumed by virtually any child, and parents can feel good about what they're eating. As a mom, Hertzog started packaging and giving out her 'Spelt Chocolate Chip Cookies' when she decided that Halloween could be both fun and healthy for the kids involved, as the traditional treats weren't something she felt comfortable feeding her own kids. In addition to being healthy and accessible to those with dietary restrictions, Hertzog's Spookies are made with ethically sourced ingredients, making them good for both the environment and the consumer.

So far, Hertzog has seen a lot of success for Spookies, showing that there's a clear demand for more healthy options when it comes to Halloween treats.
