The Inertia Collection's Need for Speed

Futuristic molded latex dresses by Hussein Chalayan look as if frozen in time. The windblown shapes were airbrushed with images of smashed car parts and detailed with chiffon scarves. The British designer’s dresses represent the extreme pace in which the world is living, and the inevitable doomed future the designer envisions.

The fantastic plastic collection was the finale of Chalayan’s Spring 2009 ready-to-wear show in Paris. Although latex is pliable, those spiky backsides lead me to believe there would be some difficulty found when trying to sit in these ‘wearable’ gowns.
