These Spatial Installations Act as Public Meeting Rooms and Offices

The French Artistic Nationale Commission requested that Studio Makkink & Bey create a series of spatial installations inside a 17th-century building. Formerly the Hotel Dupanloup, the space is now being used as a research center for the University of Orleans in France.

The interiors were decorated with the duo's colorful furniture, such as the wing-backed Ear Chair and a chair-and-table hybrid designed specifically for the event, titled 'Dupanloup.' These modern pieces complement the vintage furniture that also accessorizes the rooms. The designers explain, "Even when not in use, these 'room in a room' interiors are intriguing spatial still lifes that portray several layers of time."

Brightly colored graphics fill the paneling throughout the building, offering a contrast to the muted upholstery of the furniture.
