Sonia Lamera designed a visual pop-up, interactive alphabet made entirely from stand-up old books. The project was photographed and then transformed into a leaflet, by the Portugese design student.
In addition to being an artistic masterpiece, the project is an interesting and creative learning tool that would spice up child’s bedroom or classroom and make learning the alphabet an exciting and interactive task!
The assignment was conducted for a typography class at Sónia Lamêra’s design school in Portugal in which students were asked to choose a material to produce the alphabet, and of course, she chose to use old books.
This choice has a symbolic meaning in that every book used in the design features every letter of the alphabet over and over, and these basic elements are what lie beneath all of these words and construct human linguistic interaction.
