Solar-Powered Cable Cars

Taiyou Ropeway Concept for Green Skiing and Sightseeing

The Taiyou Ropeway is a solar-powered cable car concept by Fredrik Hylten. The eco-friendly tram would transport sightseers and skiers gracefully and securely from base to mountaintop and back again.

There are 2 seats per pod, fitted with safety harnesses, a sliding floor and open sides for fabulous viewing enjoyment. According to The Design Blog, "the sustainable lift moves on two wires, powered by solar panels on the roof, as double wires give better wind stability and helps in increasing the distance between the towers as well."

Wherever the sun shines for most of the year, the Taiyou Ropeway could be installed for tourists or workers in the mountains or over gorges and canyons.
