Launched in April 2017, Social Stepmom is an online community and social platform founded by Sarah Paterson, a stepmom and mother to seven children. Inspired to create a place where she could "feel sane" and vent about the daily challenges of parenting, and more specifically, parenting in blended families, the progressive platform provides a variety of content that serves to support, inspire and inform women on a subject that, while highly common, is not often enough discussed, and for which there are not many formal resources.
As a platform, Social Stepmom offers a mix of vlogs and articles, with very helpful advice on very real subjects including, 'How to Discuss Tricky Topics as a Stepmom," "When Do You Call Yourself a Stepmom?," and 'The Parenting Network: the Approach for Step-Parenting and Blended Families." In addition to its video and written content, Social Stepmom offers an "OMG - Help Me!" advice column and hosts 'The Social' meetups for the members of its budding community.
