Founded in 2008, Social Enterprise Africa is a Uganda-based umbrella organization that holds operates the Butterfly Project, African Farm Shares and the Chrysalis School for Young Social Entrepreneurs. The latter is a training center which helps to give young people the skills they need to develop confidence to become and "ethical changemaker" as this community interest company puts it.
Overall, its goal is to teach young people (from ages 11 to 17) how to use the principles of social enterprise in order to create change in their community and allow for sustainable projects. As a region, Africa often gets portrayed in the media in a negative light, but it's initiatives like these that deserve attention.
