Intuitive In-Fight Entertainment

This Smart Screen Monitors the Eye Movements of the Viewer

French manufacturer Thales, recently unveiled a smart screen that will track and monitor the eye movements of whoever is watching. The revolutionary technology debuted at the Paris Air Show and would be implemented as a more intuitive type of in-flight entertainment system.

The technology used to create the new smart screen is the same as that used to help paralyzed individuals communicate through eye movements. The Thales prototype employs this technology in order to follow the eye movement of the viewer. If the person watching the screen looks away from the screen or falls asleep, the monitor will immediately pause the current video. The video will then resume as soon as eye contact is restored.

While the technology is still years away from commercial use, it does suggest that airlines are investing more heavily in passenger entertainment.
