The Emm smart menstrual cup is a connected take on the menstruation product to help women collect pertinent insights related to their reproductive health.
The menstrual cup has a medical-grade silicone construction that's integrated with a series of biosensors to capture data related to flow rate, volume, regularity and cycle length. This information can be relayed to the user's smartphone where the various metrics could offer insights into conditions like endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome, which can be hard to diagnose. The cup comes with a portable sanitizing case that uses UV light to clean it between uses.
CEO Jenny Button spoke on the inspiration of the Emm smart menstrual cup saying, "It was during the first lockdown, and I was looking at the period product sector. I thought it was ridiculous that we were in 2020 and these products were still leaking, still so uncomfortable, and really unsustainable with a massive landfill problem globally. I thought people who menstruate are not going to be using these products in 20 years’ time."
