Online Therapy, "Sleep Healthy Using the Internet," Provides Relief

Insomniacs may be able to find help by using Internet software called, ‘Sleep Healthy Using the Internet,’(SHUTi for short). The program gives advice and recommends bedtimes based on user's sleep diaries. Stories, quizzes and games help users to learn better habits and improve their sleep patterns.

No human therapist is involved in the computer-driven therapy. In a recent study, patients who participated in the program woke up less often and lost less sleep than a control group that did not use the software. The Internet group’s scores remained improved six months after disuse.
