Skype App for iPhone 3G Lets You Place Calls On the Internet

Nimbuzz and Fring, watch out! Skype is hitting the mobile airwaves as soon as Tuesday, March 31 in the form of a free iPhone app that can be downloaded from the App Store.

Staying true to the Apple format, Skype for the iPhone looks less like the Windows 4.0 version, which is a plus because it adds consistency to the app.  Your avatar can be downloaded from a file or taken with the iPhone’s camera. Skype will work through your Wi-Fi or 3G connection, so you must ensure you are in a strong area so as to receive the best service.

The iPod touch can download Skype as well, but will require headphones with an embedded mic in order to use live chat.
