Oversized Camera Obscuras

This Immersive Dark Room Gives Photography a Fresh Perspective

Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan created the stunning oversized camera obscura, which resembles a carnival fun house. The massive structure is located in Zocalo Suare in Mexico City.

Titled 'Mirar -- Ways of Seeing' the immersive life-sized camera allows guests to experience what it would be like to be inside a real camera obscura. The structure ushers guests into a dark room where an upside-down reflection of the landscape appears on the wall.

The idea for this giant installation is to present tourists and citizens with brand new perspectives of the same scenes. The structure is decorated with brightly colored geometric shapes and patterns. The aesthetic design of the building is reflective of the Mexican culture and is sure to drawn in many curious passersby. There is also a single eyeball situated at the very top of the structure to metaphorically describe what it is.
