Shopping for a Change is a nonprofit organization that enables struggling artisans to leverage their skills toward a sustainable income and funds important infrastructure development projects with the proceeds.
Supporting artisans globally, the majority of which are female, Shopping for a Change was inspired on a trip by founder Stacey Horowitz to the Galapagos Islands and Peru where she witnessed impoverished communities struggling to gain fair means of employment.
Shopping for a Change pays its artisans up front and then splits the proceeds between community involvement projects that focus on water sanitation, education and healthcare abroad and a US charity of the customer’s choosing.
