Realistic Robotic Rumps

The Shiri Butt by Nobuhiro Takahashi is Responsive to Touch

The Shiri Butt by Nobuhiro Takahashi is a bizarre and jaw-dropping invention. The Shiri, which translated from Japanese means "buttocks," is a humanoid robot in the shape of a caboose. The amazing thing about this voluptuous invention is that this robot can actually express emotion based on what actions are done to it; the actions include slaps, caresses and poking. This robotic booty was created by Takahashi and colleagues at the University of Electro-Communication. Depending on the actions taken towards Shiri, the robot expresses a variety of emotions with "organic movement of the artificial muscles."

This super bizarre invention was created to scale using a silicon skin and a firm urethane skeleton. Once the silicon casing is removed, two airbags -- which make up the butt cheeks -- resembling contraptions are seen that inflate or deflate depending on detected pressure. Depending on the kind of pressure applied to Shiri -- poke, slap or carress -- a different reaction is expressed by the robotic wonder.

One of the questions that must haunt the minds of individuals who have seen this creation is, why does it exists? What can be learned from a fake fanny? Apparently, there is a need for robotic rumps.
