Ganit Goldstein, a fashion design graduate from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, created Shifted Craft with support from Stratasys. The experimental collection of 3D-printed accessories—seven jewelry designs and two pairs of shoes—was shown at Milan Design Week's Israeli Pavilion.
While there are many 3D-printed designs that make the most of leather and leather-like materials, this project explored an innovative way of printing directly onto leather. This method does away with some of the traditional requirements for working with textiles, such as molds and other tools. The jewelry pieces in the collection explore complex shapes and colorful forms, which, like the shoes, are topped off with Swarovski crystals.
As Goldstein describes, "This collection was designed to shatter traditional limitations, by using the unique capabilities of 3D printing to innovate fashion design as we know it."
