Beautiful to behold, it almost looks as though the building is dismantling from the top down. A mind-boggling design, the Sheung Wan Hotel revitalizes the direction many architectural firms are going in lately. It effectively does away with the soulless glass towers being erected around the world.
Designed by British starchitect Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio, the Sheung Wan Hotel is a forty-storey structure that interprets "the familiar objects found in a hotel room--bed, window, mini-bar, safe and a place to keep the iron--as a series of boxes, of four different sizes," as written on the website. By doing so, it creates a unique facade that is as intriguing from the outside as it is from the inside.
