Morbid Cartoons in Music Videos

She and Him: Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?

Zooey Deschanel is promoting retro fashion in the new music video for She and Him. The video, seen above, for the single 'Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?' was filmed with a distinctly 1960s flare.

The video is a fun combination of real life video footage and cartoon imagery. It starts with cheerful imagery like cartoon birds, then gets slightly morbid with pools of cartoon blood, dead nuns and ghosts.

The indie meets country meets pop band consisting of M. Ward, a former one-man band, and Zooey Deschanel.

Does Zooey look familiar? That's because she got her start acting. She's been in movies like Almost Famous, The Good Girl, Elf, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Failure to Launch and Bridge to Terabithia, among others.

In one part of the video, Zooey lays on the ground and is surrounded by a cartoon blood bath... does this remind anyone else of the blood pillow?
