Edible-Looking Glass Desserts

Shayna Leib's 'Pâtisserie' Collection is Incredibly Hyperrealistic

Designer Shayna Leib considers herself to be a "taxidermist of French pastries," due to her impressive ability to create glass sculptures of desserts that look like they're ready to eat.

In order to create her unique sculptures, Leib had to implement a different design process than most, and "reverse engineer the visual look of the real thing using both glass and ceramics." To get the perfectly smooth and shiny finish that many of the pieces boast, Leib had to employ a variety of techniques, such as fusing, casting, lampwork, glassblowing, hand-building, throwing, and hot-sculpting. The 'Pâtisserie' collection that resulted from this work is made up of 82 different pieces, two of which are "replicas of pastry made by specific chefs."

Photographer Eric Tadsen captured the pieces, highlighting their intricate details and amazing use of texture.
