Subtle Innuendo Illustrations

These Clever Sex Illustrations are Clean and Fun

Portraying the idea of gender and its relationship to sex in a surprisingly nonsexual way, Michael Haddad’s sex illustrations for Ottawa Magazine’s ‘The Sex Issue’ are simple and clever.

The monochrome sex illustrations use an innocent turquoise blue to represent the male side, and a sweet peachy pink to symbolize females. Using innuendo-tastic icons like nails and bolts, hot dogs and buns, bananas and peaces, the bees and the birds and a plug and a socket, the illustrations are childlike in their naivety.

To be able to express the act of sex in such a whimsical and cute way is a feat for any artist, and Haddad was able to get it just right using the least subtle symbols but keeping it clean at the same time.
