Rice-Backed Seaweed Snacks

Annie Chun's Seaweed Crisps Get Extra Crunch from a Brown Rice Backing

Now that wafer-thin seaweed snacks can easily be found in just about any Asian food store, Annie Chun's is introducing a new take on the idea with Seaweed Crisps.

Rather than solely being made of seaweed, these low-calorie snacks come with a backing that's made of crispy brown rice. In addition to being offered in a salted Original flavor, the seaweed chips are also available in sweet Cinnamon and Gochujang, a taste that mimics a traditional Korean hot sauce. As well as containing zero trans fat, the snacks are also gluten-free, cholesterol-free and vegan-friendly.

With the rise in alternative fruit and vegetable-based alternatives to potato chips, the use of unconventional ingredients are being used to satisfy a consumer's desire for a snack that supplies both crunch and comforting flavors in a single bite.
