A Mexican Seafront Compound Boasts Views of the Sunrise & Sunset

Mexican design firm Espacio 18 Arquitectura designed a concrete seafront compound on Zapotengo beach in Oaxaca. The home is divided into two wings which are oriented to ensure optimal views of the sunrise and sunset.

Named La Casa del Sapo, this home was designed using a minimalist principle. Inspired by architect David Thoreaus' cabin in Massachusetts, this home is comprised of two concrete blocks which separate the primary living spaces and the sleeping quarters. One bedroom enjoys views of the sunset to the east while the en-suite faces the sunset to the west. The layout is completed with a large central terrace that has sweeping views of the sea. The two separate concrete blocks allow for uninterrupted views and create a flexible living space that can adapt to any need.
