'Noggles' Turns Scrap Wood into Beautiful Accessories and Decorations

Noggles, a Japanese start-up, turns scrap wood into beautiful decorations and accessories.

Yoshiyuki Ueno worked in a large furniture manufacturing plant, where large boards of hardwood were cut into furniture pieces, such as bed frames and desks. The leftover scraps were too small to be used for building furniture, so the manufacturer simply dumped them in the trash. Appalled by the waste of high-quality hardwood, such as Cherry and Oak, Ueno decided to take scraps home to his personal workshop, where he hand-crafted the leftover wood into various accessories and decorations. His work includes everything from vases to earrings and due to the process of combining scrap wood, his creations take on a multi-colored, mosaic-like quality. Noggles is currently in talks with Canadian distributors, aiming for an early 2018 launch.
