Parking Spot Micro Homes

The SCADPad Turns Public Garages into Mini Cities

Overcrowding is something many cities are beginning to address as the world's population continues to rise and one of the more innovative solutions comes in the form of the SCADPad. The SCADPad is a parking spot-sized micro home that is meant to be slid into, that's right, a parking spot. Instead of living out of one's car, a person can now live in a cozy studio apartment thanks to the SCADPad.

Designed by a team of creatives from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), the SCADPad will essentially turn public parking garages into mini cities. Christian Sottile, dean of the SCAD School of Building Arts, observes, "Parking decks are a building type that’s often overlooked, but it may actually be the next frontier for adaptive reuse."
