Mumbai-based 'Sanjay Puri Architects' created an interesting housing project called 'Studios 18' in the deserts of Raj, Rajasthan. The Studio 18 housing project was developed for labrorers and employees of a new cement manufacturing facility that opened up in the area. The development has a yellow, orange,and cream color palette and resembles LEGO with its deconstructed look. The color scheme references typical Rajasthani colors.
The low-rise housing unit has a natural ventilation system to help cool down the homes. Considering how hot the temperatures can get, Sanjay Puri Architects oriented the homes to face away from the south. To further resemble traditional Rajasthani architecture, the buildings were intentionally built close to the ground to create a feeling that each apartment is actually a house.
