Samsung's Galaxy Watch Will Be Able to Use ECG Monitoring

Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active 2 will feature the ECG heart rate tracker. However the ECG tracker will not be available on the watch's initial release, but it will be added in an update during 2020. The model will also feature a less reliable heart rate tracker that will alert the user if their heart rate unexpectedly increases. The watch will also alert users if their heart rate drops too low.

ECG heart rate trackers, like the one that will be in Samsung's Galaxy watch, are more accurate than other trackers due to the fact that they measure electrical signals. However, ECG monitors need FDA approval, which is the reason Samsung is having to roll the feature out later.

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be shown to the public at an event in August of 2019 at an event in New York.
