Draped Pocket Chairs

The Saddle Chair Features an Understated Compartments

Design collective Angell, Wyller & Aarseth created the 'Saddle Chair,' a wooden chair that features cushioned pockets draped over each arm rest. The slender flaps are perfect for storing everything from television remotes to magazines. The title refers to the fact that the compartments vaguely resemble horse-riding tack.

The pockets are fashioned out of wool or leather, a material that also covers the seat and back. The severe wooden frame, which is available in ash or oak, is significantly softened by these chosen materials.

The chairs, which are crafted by hand at Slake, a Norwegian furniture manufacturer, are intended to weather beautifully with age and use. The Saddle Chair will debut at the 100% Norway Exhibition during the London Design Festival.
