This Rural Cabin is a Repurposed Military Car From World War One

Tourists in search of unique accommodations in the Smoky Mountains region of Tennessee would be hard-pressed to find a more novel and historic place to stay than Platform 1346, a rural cabin that was once a military train car in a previous life.

This rural cabin was repurposed out of a train car that was built in the early 1940s and was adjoined to a train that transported American troops to different parts of the country as they were being mobilized for participation in World War Two.

It took over half a year for the train car to be transformed into guest accommodation. The outside of the guest house still bears the distinct military shade of green, but its indoor aptly combines rustic aesthetics with modern amenities, making Platform 1346 a truly unique place to stay for visitors to the Smoky Mountains.
