The Outbreak Royal Mint Coin Marks WWI Being 100 Years Ago

To mark that it's been 100 years since the start of World War I, the 'Outbreak 2014' special edition Royal Mint coin is being released to honor the British troops that journeyed to France to fight for their country.

The limited coin is a £20 coin, which is only the second of its kind to be made in this amount. The coin depicts a triumphant scene of a British figure overlooking soldiers that are heading off in ships towards battle. Promotional images for the coin use England's southern coast as a background, bringing the coast to life. On the reverse side is a portrait of The Queen, as all British coins contain. Rather than being a pricey collector's piece, this £20 coin is sold through the Royal Mint at face value, but only 250,000 have been minted.
