'56' Day Bed by Ron Gilad Uses Seats to Hold It Up

This intriguing design created by Ron Gilad is titled '56' Day Bed. It catches the eye because of its simple yet funky use of everyday objects. It offers an elongated black leather seating and instead of using plain bed legs, Gilad incorporates chairs to hold up the bed.

New York-based Gilad and his designs are not overly grand as he uses simple geometric shapes to transform objects. Along with the 56 Day Bed design, Gilad showcased an array of furniture designs during Milan Design Week 2012.

This Israeli-born designer makes it an effort to capture everyday objects with geometry, reinventing the way furniture is used and revitalizing it to give a new purpose. In addition to his solo exhibition, Gilad's collection of work includes mirrors, lighting fixtures and seating, all with a common arch-shaped theme. Ron Gilad turns everyday objects into function but more importantly projecting the idea of contrast.
