Biasol Fuses Concrete with Delicate Pink Marble

In the design of a romantic restaurant interior, Australian studio Biasol makes use of materials that contrast in color, texture and ethereal properties. The project concerns itself with the aesthetic of a Melbourne-based Italian eatery called 'Pantolina.'

The business is located in a building that is 100 years old and studio Biasol takes advantage of that in order to instill an atmosphere that hints at Ancient Rome. As a result, the romantic restaurant interior is both edgy and delicate. While the exposed concrete walls contribute to the industrial street-like vibe of Pantolina, the interior is softened by the installment of rose marble accents that are meant "to resemble the pink granite [...] in Roman Architecture". In addition, the entire design composition is balanced by the grooved Tasmanian oak bar and the rich red detailing.
