adidas is Opening a Second Speedfactory That Creates Robot-Made Sneakers

In 2017 athletic brand adidas will be opening its second Speedfactory to produce robot-made sneakers.

The Speedfactory has an incredibly high production rate. The first Speedfactory was opened in Germany and has been successful. The newest Speedfactory, which will be in Atlanta, Georgia, will be capable of producing 50,000 pairs of sneakers a year. The factory will contain 74,000 square feet of robotic shoemaking equipment.

The Speedfactory will also be creating 160 new jobs for people to oversee every aspect of production. The robot-made sneakers can easily be custom-designed because of the efficiency of the machines. With the customization of sneakers becoming increasingly popular, the greater efficiency and lower rate of error by machine production will enable adidas to have quick turnaround on custom production sneakers.
