Amazon's Robotic Driving Program Tests Xanthus and Pegasus Models

Amazon is bolstering its robotic driving program, the company noted at the MARS conference that it has used over 200,000 robotic drivers around the world. Approximately half of these drivers were distributed across 25 fulfillment centers within the United States.

Two of the robot models used are called 'Xanthus' and 'Pegasus' and the company notes that it has 800 pegasus models, while both robot models are used for in-warehouse package delivery. The company notes that the use of robotic driving will not adversely affect its human staff and that the robots provide an integral function to the where house but they will not be the cause of increased automation. Amazon states that the robots have stacked more than 2 billion packages, as it pushes for one-day shipping the increased use of robots can help ease the burden on current human staff.
