The Apeel RipeFinder Helps Shoppers Select Perfectly Ripe Avocados

Apeel is the California-based food-tech start-up that's determined to help more shoppers go home with perfectly ripe avocados. Thanks to Apeel's in-store device that's designed to "peel behind the peel," consumers can feel confident about their choice. The new technology recently made its debut at the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando and as Apeel says, RipeFinder "could allow grocery shoppers to know the exact ripeness window of produce like avocados before purchasing."

The user-friendly avocado scanner also shares helpful messages such as "Your avocado is ready for a salad" or "Your avocado will be ready in about four days." With this technology, avocado lovers will benefit from produce that's ready to eat, all the while helping to reduce food waste and prevent avocados from being overly poked and picked at.
