The rEvolution Wine Glass is Sipped and Set Askew

Patrons were intrigued when chic restaurants began serving drinks in stemless wineglasses, and I'm sure that a similar reaction would too arise should the rEvolution Wine Glass find its way into bars.

Interestingly, this peculiar piece of stemware comprises most of the parts of a typical glass chalice. Martin Jakobsen's vessel consists of a gorgeous spherical cup with a smooth circular opening, a slender stock and a flat base. But each of these features has been sculpted in a way rather unlike the archetype.

The rim of the rEvolution Wine Glass has been asymmetrically placed, the footing has been integrated into the side of the bowl and the stem sticks out of the tumbler parallel to the tabletop. Although the unique composition may seem arbitrary at first glance, the new configuration enables easy drinking, steady setting and painless pouring.
