Studio LO's Revolution Card Deck Symbolizes the Fight Against Oppression

Dedicated to those groundbreaking Black icons who "made a way out of no way," Studio LO's Revolution Card Deck is designed by 22-year-old Kearra Johnson. The Missouri-based designer's standard 54-card deck is a revolutionary statement about the fight against oppression.

Johnson's design was born out of a class project at the University of Missouri. The playing cards feature a raised fist, which is a globally recognized symbol for strength in the face of oppression. On the King, Queen, and Jack of each suit, the Revolution Card Deck portrays portraits of Black icons who have profoundly impacted American and world history. These inspirations include Michelle Obama, Thurgood Marshall, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks.

The deck is available for purchase as a permanent fixture of Studio LO's inventory.
