The Best Western Baltic Hotel Now Features a Modern Extension

The Best Western Baltic Hotel has unveiled a unique restaurant extension that runs along the facade of the building. The hotel is located on a historic street in Sundsvall, Sweden where some of the wealthiest citizens of the country visit. A fire in 1888 however left the building damaged and dilapidated, which decreased the area's popularity.

In an effort to rekindle its historic past, the Best Western decided to commission a restaurant extension of the hotel, meant to add a sense of modernism to the area. The contemporary pavilion is draped in white dotted fabric, which creates an interesting visual illusion and covers dinners from passersby. The juxtaposition between the modern design and traditional building illustrates that the city is willing to incorporate innovative architecture to help revitalize its once bustling streets.
