Skeletal Building Installations

'ReMIX Studio' from Beijing Transforms a Hutong with Lights

With Beijing Design Week 2014 come and gone, there have been many pieces of artwork that push boundaries and make people see differently, especially this installation from ReMIX Studio. The team lit up the inside of a half-constructed building, which highlights the bare basics of the structure.

As such the lighting shows the skeletal outline of the design, and draws the eyes of the viewer away from the bigger picture. This forces people to think about what goes into the design of the building, making them look at things such as the beams and general outline. When the half-built building is lit up fully, one can see how the lighting really highlights the outline of the completed structure and what a difference it makes.
