This Relaxing Sauna is Made to Resemble the Inside of a Grotto

When one thinks of a relaxing sauna, a pretty well-known image of a dark, boxy structure comes to mind. Situated on a private island just north of Toronto, this sauna presents a bright and cozy alternative.

Architecture firm Partisans created this sauna on a private island, meant to look like the inside of a grotto. The sea and cave influence is clear when looking at both the shape and design of the sauna's interior. Wood paneling with fluid curves is used to line the inside, which is sharply contrasted with a bay window that provides panoramic views of the water. Rough, worn planks create the rugged exterior meant to insulate the relaxing lakeside sauna.
