Red Bull Arts Debuts a Travelling Solo Exhibition by Akeem Smith

The Red Bull Arts events in New York City and Detroit this year will be united through a traveling solo exhibition. The event is by artist and stylist Akeem Smith and it marks a "deeply personal project" which tells the story of what it was like to grow up between New York and Jamaica, with a specific emphasis on the Dancehall scene in the 90s.

This is the first Red Bull Arts traveling exhibition and it could be regarded as somewhat of an experiment. The event is titled 'Akeem Smith: No Gyal Can Test' and it will feature various retro artifacts — like VHS tapes, for example, and some photography. The exhibition will be open to the public of New York City on April 9th and it will run until June 28th. Thereafter, it will travel to Detroit.
