Happiness-Sharing Bots

Bbc Earth's Chatbot Shares Personalized Videos for "Real Happiness"

The results of a recent survey from BBC Earth and Berkeley University discovered that watching nature documentaries can actually help to trigger happiness—as such, the Real Happiness project was launched.

As part of this project, BBC Earth created a Messenger chatbot that simply helps to spread joy by connecting people with nature.

The bot has people answer a few quick questions on their location, level of happiness and any personal preferences they may have related to animals. From there, the bot gets to work sharing a tailored 45-second video clip of animals in their natural habitat. After receiving and watching the personalized video, users are then asked once again to rate their level of happiness. To continue receiving these joyful videos periodically, users also have the option to subscribe for more content.
