The Raif Adelberg A/W 13 Collection is Full of Tough Attire

Raif Adelberg's Autumn/Winter 2013 menswear collection takes inspiration from the 'Hinterlands,' and expresses the strength it takes to endure a brutal winter.

In his latest collection, the Northern Canadian native creates clothing for a man who is not afraid to "rough it" on his own in the wilderness. Despite the dishevelled look of the outfits, the individual pieces created by the designer are anything but rough. The garments are luxurious and extremely labor-intensive to make. The collection features several intricately-patterned intarsia sweaters and other cashmere garments that are all knit, loomed and dyed by hand. These kind of details bring the Hinterlands story to life, helping to convey the concept of a self-sufficient survivor.
