‘Blackbird' African-American Searches

Blackbird, a new Mozilla-based browser, is the first web browser built specifically for African-Americans.

Blackbird is a customized version of Firefox 3 that tailors searches, news and a variety of other content to an African-American perspective, including a charity content channel called "Do Good" that connects users with African American-focused organizations.

Ed Young, CEO of 40A, Inc., the company behind the new race-tailored browser, believes that Blackbird will make the Internet better for the African-American community. "We want to offer a tool that makes it easier for this community to find resources that are geared more towards them," he said.

At this stage Blackbird only works on Windows XP and Vista.
