Project Maybach is a solar-cell-powered electric car developed by Mercedes-Benz and late fashion designer Virgil Abloh and it has been described as "a design unlike anything that has been developed by Mercedes-Benz." Every element of the car was created from scratch, according to the brand, and it sets itself apart with an aesthetically striking transparent bonnet. This design detail also serves a practical purpose, since it charges the solar cells that sit underneath.
The battery-operated off-the-road coupe has space to seat two people and Mercedes-Benz describes that the project "combines huge Gran Turismo proportions, large off-road wheels and distinctive attachments." With Abloh, Mercedez-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener envisioned Project Mayback as a "responsible vision of future design."
