App-Connected Toolboxes

Craftsman's 'Pro Series' Can Be Locked and Unlocked with an App

Beyond simply holding tools, toolboxes are meant to keep their wares secure, and Craftsman's new 'Pro Series' toolboxes are bringing that old-fashioned hardware into the sphere of the Internet of Things to make their toolboxes that much more secure. The Pro Series tool storage units are connected to an app via 'Smart Lock' technology, eliminating the need for physical keys in the workshop.

While the Pro Series storage units can still be opened the traditional way, the lock is Bluetooth-compatible and connects to the free Craftsman app. This lets handymen and handywomen lock and unlock their toolbox remotely. Alternatively, the Pro Series can be configured so that the box still requires a key but will only open if the user's smartphone is detected in the area, preventing mischievous neighbors or relatives who know where the keys are hidden from getting in.
