Asian-Themed Princess Art

This Graphic Artist Recreates Disney Princesses with an Asian Twist

French graphic designer Arto Saad created a series of Disney princess art using an Asian theme. The artwork was inspired by Kokeshi dolls, which are handcrafted wooden figures that portray Japanese culture.

The princess art is designed using computer software, which gives each princess colorful details and authentic characteristics. This art series includes iconic princesses such as Snow White, Jasmine and Cinderella. Each of the portraits presents a princess wearing a color-coordinated kimono. The faces, which are almost completely hidden with voluminous hair, show only the wide eyes that are authentic in color and shape to reflect the Asian theme.

Saad often transforms pop culture icons and recreates them as they might appear within Asian culture. The entire series can be found on the artist's website along with other unique prints.
