Pretty Puke Photographs a Depraved Undergound Nightlife Scene

Photographer Miller Rodriquez, professionally known as 'Pretty Puke,' is an artist who isn't concerned with perfection. In fact, his work errs on the side of the grotesque, repulsive and bizarre. Focusing on the underground nightlife culture of Los Angeles, Pretty Puke captures the depraved, gluttonous and hypersexual behaviors of Generation X and Y.

Explaining why he shoots with a lo-fi equipment and aesthetic, Pretty Puke says, "I don’t have a reaction to perfection. I’m an advocate for the ‘ugly.’ [...] I use shitty equipment so I don’t veil the flaws in my subjects. I want to see them how they are."

Pretty Puke's images might have viewer's recoiling with disgust at first, but once that initial moment has passed, there exists a certain level of intrigue. As viewers, we want to understand the excess, the bad behavior and the depravity.
