Pot-Infused Bacon Comes From Cannabis Fed Pigs

Pot-infused bacon was born after Top Shelf Organics, a medical marijuana grower in Washington State, wanted to dispose of leftover stems, roots and over-sized cannabis leaves in an environmentally conscious manner. They teamed up with Bucking Boar Farm in order to create pig feed with it instead of chucking it in a less desirable fashion. Since the owner of the farm, William von Schneidau, is used to experimenting with his stock, pot-infused bacon seemed like a natural next step.

Sold at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington, the pot-infused bacon is definitely a novelty. Of course, the effect the feed has on the pigs is very subtle. But as Neatorama points out, everyone wins, "The pot grower reduced their waste costs, the farmer got free feed, and the consumer got pot infused bacon."
