Taxidermy Children Portraits

These Whimsical Portraits Feature Girls Posing with Taxidermy Animals

Photography artist Erika Masterson created a stunning collection of editorials that feature young girls posing with taxidermy animals. All of the images are presented in black and white to capture the ominous beauty that is contained within each frame.

This portrait series, which is titled 'Parts of the Earth,' beautifully exposes young girls posing with taxidermy animals from the wilderness such as lions, bears and gazelles. Within each picture a girl poses with a blank, yet enticing gaze as she interacts with the animal that appears extremely lifelike.

The simplicity of the images allows the viewer to take what they want from the portraits. The goal of this photography project was to revisit the relationship between humans and nature. Erika Masterson says she wanted to expose "the vulnerability of the human spirit and the spiritual trials we all go through."
