Candid Pasta-Maker Photography

This Portrait Series Documents the Italian Women Behind Pasta

I think it's safe to say that everyone loves pasta, and how better to pay homage to this favored dish than to document the women and old school traditions behind this rock star of dishes through a portrait series?

Italian photographer Valentina Piccinni takes an emotional journey into her origins and takes us with her in the new portrait series 'Pasta Divas'.

Photographing women from her hometown Bari, Italy making the traditional orecchiette pasta just like their mothers and grandmothers before them did, the portraits are raw and genuine.

"This work is a kind of homage to my land and to Puglia’s capital, Bari. It was enchanting to hobnob with these women and to witness the craftsmanship of orecchiette pasta production—they are the keepers of an otherwise lost tradition," says Piccinni.
